Kobolds

In response to Shabazik's contest, here's my vision of Kobolds in the world of Aiers... I have no clue when they stopped being dog-people in my head and became a cross between catfish and rabbits.

The Kobolds of Aiers are a people constantly on the brink of extinction, having to contend as they do with Demons, Drow, Dwarves, and the other people of the Underworld. Their culture is focused on survival: the men, smaller and stronger, leave their homes to scout for food, supplies, and whatever they can steal from the other races of the surface. The women, larger and softer, remain behind, raising the children and defending their homes from whatever threats they can intimidate.

Their large bulbous eyes allow them to take in as much light as possible in the darkness of the Underworld, while their large, fluffy ears help them hear the dangers that aren't easily seen. Their language is soft and quiet, small murmurs and whispers to get their meaning across without being heard by any of their numerous predators.
